Strength & Rhythm: Bringing Our Community Together Through Wellness, Movement, and Connection

On July 25, Ensemble Washington welcomed our community to Strength & Rhythm: A Community Wellness Event at Whim W’Him Contemporary Dance Center in Queen Anne, proudly presented in partnership with the City of Seattle Office of Arts & Culture.

At its heart, the event was built on a simple belief: wellness is more meaningful when it’s shared, culturally enriching, and rooted in community.

From the moment attendees walked through the doors, the room came alive with music, movement, laughter, and connection. Friends reunited, new friendships were formed, and neighbors from across Seattle gathered with a shared purpose—to invest in their well-being while celebrating the power of community.

Strength & Rhythm was never just about fitness. It was about creating a welcoming space where everyone—regardless of age, background, or fitness level—felt empowered to move, connect, and belong. That’s the kind of community Ensemble Washington is committed to building.

A Day of Movement, Led by the Best

We were honored to partner with two outstanding local instructors who brought passion, expertise, and energy to every moment of the day.

  • House of Afro kicked off the celebration with an electrifying Afro dance workout that transformed the studio into a vibrant expression of culture, movement, and joy. Whether it was someone’s first dance class or their hundredth, everyone moved together, laughed together, and experienced the unifying power of rhythm. It wasn’t simply a workout—it was a celebration of culture, community, and connection.
  • Tone with Tina then challenged participants to push beyond their comfort zones during an energizing strength training session that was equal parts demanding and empowering. Every squat, lift, and repetition became a reminder that we are often capable of far more than we believe. Tina’s encouragement inspired participants to embrace the challenge, build confidence, and reconnect with the incredible strength of their own bodies.

Together, these sessions perfectly embodied the spirit of Strength & Rhythm—showing that wellness is not only about physical health, but also about building confidence, celebrating culture, and strengthening the bonds that bring our communities together.

Looking Ahead

Events like Strength & Rhythm reflect Ensemble Washington’s commitment to creating spaces where wellness, culture, and community intersect. We’re grateful to everyone who joined us, to our incredible instructors for sharing their talents, and to the City of Seattle Office of Arts & Culture for partnering with us to make this experience possible.
